Welcome to your Virb Website! Here are some tips and pointers to help you get started. We have selected a Theme and a Homepage for you and we have created an Example Section and Blog page to ease you into your journey.

Page Types

Virb offers 5 different page types to help you build your new site.

  • Collection - Used to showcase Photos and Videos. This page type gives you different display options for each collection page such as a Slideshow, Horizontal View among others.
  • Blog - Create a new blog using Virb or use a blog you've already setup on Tumblr. Use this as a news page or any other updates.
  • Album - For anyone needing to upload Audio to create an Album page to showcase your work.
  • Events - Easily showcase events for Music Events, Art shows and movie screenings from Last.FM, Facebook and other supported sites. You can also manually enter these as well.
  • Custom Page - Use this for anything you need. It's a blank page that offers an easy to use WYSIWYG editor to help format the content you insert.

Additionally, you can add links to other websites (like your online store, Flickr photostream, or Myspace profile) to your website's Navigation. Do this by clicking "Create a new Page" and then choose to add an external link at the bottom.

Organization

Sections help you organize your pages. You can insert Sections between pages, re-order them and drag pages you've already created inside them. Indexing is great for sections that have a lot of pages. When you create an Index page for a section, it will give you one page that shows all the pages inside it with thumbnails.

Sidebar

We offer an ever growing set of Sidebar widgets. Use these to add additional information to your site that might not need their own page.

  • Blank - This is good for listing Store Hours, contact info and other information you might want to be available on your site at all times.
  • Audio - If you've uploaded audio to an Album page you'll be able to have a static player on your website at all times. You also get to choose which songs it includes and the order in which they're presented.
  • Last.FM - Last.fm members will be able to post what you're listening to in real time. You can choose between recent plays, top artists/songs as well as pull your own band's upcoming events into your sidebar.
  • Twitter - Twitter members can show their newest tweets by simply entering your username and choosing how many to show.

Customization

Want to customize your website's Theme? You can access the customize options from the cog wheel in the top right hand corner (when logged in). Edit your site in real time. Most themes give you the ability to do things like uploading a logo, background image, header image, fonts, colors and more. Expert users can take customization to a whole other level by writing your own custom CSS.

Want to use your own domain? Change your Site Name? Change these settings and more in the Site Info area.
